Preschool stress

Way more stressful than I ever imagined, to conform to someone else's house rules. Never been one to conform and certainly not when it comes to child rearing and caring. It is no wonder I struggle.

New for this week in Noah's motor skills is turning, as in the turning/ screwing with the hand and wrist. His precision with Kuplio has also improved, and his effort to repeat and practice is admirable, even as he expresses frustration or negative emotions when he fails in his attempts.

We managed a Tuesday lunch at Marie's kitchen, the all 3 of us, to get really tasty nutritious food as natural remedy for our cold. Love the pear and vanilla tea I got to try, and Noah gobbled down his stewed beef pieces, praise God, for he has been eating poorly the last 2 or 3 days, maybe due to his cold and sore throat we are guessing. Sleep for the past 2 nights has also been miserable. Now he fell asleep after lunch and sleeps better in the pram with his head elevated so that his nose is not as stuck. Breathe easy Noah!

We called in sick to his preschool this Monday and I sensed my strong reluctance to return to them. With the little free time I got during his schooling in week, I have managed to submit my application for a Swedish course with the local university. If I pass the entrance examination, I could potentially require more free time come January and spring.

I have learned much about preschooling in Sweden and probably have much more to learn still. What really bugs me is the lack of communication from the teachers. As first time parents, we need to the support and guidance too when schooling in our child.  But the lack in communication in their protocols is not the only thing that was wrong. Many small unpleasant  things were picked up and it grows to a mass scale. I am contemplating more seriously now to find an alternative path.

In 8 days we will go to yet another preschool open house at 18:00 hours. It has been instinctively the preschool that sticks out in our neighbourhood mostly based on website impressions. We will see if the teachers there are more akin to respect our wishes, for example to provide breast milk to Noah via bottle before or after nap.
